The Fox Bar
"Come for a drink and a chat, in a bar, with ya bum out!"
The Monthly Meet-Ups are held at The Fox Bar, Lower Essex Street in Birmingham, one of the city's oldest LGBT+ bars with a very traditional, homely, welcoming mood and attitude. It is comprised of three linked spaces, the main bar, a pool room and then large outdoor, covered, area with benches and small stage.
The bar has long been a champion of different groups using it's space as a safe, comfortable place to meet, whether during normal opening hours, or, as for us at HONM, a private space in which we can meet together.
As with everything we aim to do, be kind, be thoughtful, be generous, be open to taking time with those you may not know yet, come in friendship.
Facilities at The Fox

The bar takes card/electronic payments. Perhaps rather than carrying your phone around too much, pop a bank card in your sock to make payments when you need to.

The outdoor area can be heated, when needed, to allow us more access outdoors during the cooler months.

The main bar is accessible throughout the space for wheelchair users via portable ramps.

HONM, nor the venue, are unable to take responsibility for your belongings during each event, or if left behind after an event. All items are left at the owners risk. Bring a small bag perhaps, to put your clothes in.
Travelling and Parking
By Train: The Fox is about a 5-10 minute walk from New Street Station, heading past the Birmingham Hippadrome and then heading down Hurst Street, turning right into Kent Street and then left into Lower Essex Street.
By Car: Lower Essex Street, and the surrounding streets have marked parking bays, which are free to park in on a Sunday. Do not park on the single yellow lines, which are operational until 7.30pm. Wardens regularly patrol the area. Similarly do not park in the Taxi rank area immediately outside The Fox, otherwise you risk getting a ticket.
If the area is busy there is a car park in Kent Street, which is a 2-3 minute walk from The Fox.
